The 33rd National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships will be held at Stanford University (40 miles south of San Francisco) in spring 2008.
The Championships will feature forms and sparring divisions for both color belt and black belt collegiate Taekwondo competitors. The tournament will also determine the national collegiate Taekwondo team standings for the year.
If you are interested in representing GW and competing at the 33rd National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships, contact Master Wright. With sufficient interest, the Taekwondo Club is able to help defray costs for lodging and some transportation.
Preparation is Key
Dedicated training for the NCTA Championships is required, both for poomse as well as gyoroogi, in order to fully enjoy the competition experience. Attention to diet, aerobic training and strength training in addition to sparring and poomse training are important aspects of a good plan. Start your preparations now to be ready at Stanford 2008!
Members of the Taekwondo Club have successfully competed at this event at Thibedeaux State University (LA; 1993), New York University (1995), UC Berkeley (1998, 2005), Princeton University (1998), Iowa State University (2000), University of Texas (2001), the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (2006), and Texas A&M Univeristy (2007). In Berkeley 2005, four Taekwondo Club members brought home four medals (2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze) in poomse and sparring.
