Martial artists dancing around the fire Marc Abbott Xtreme Daredevil Chuck Buhs, comments on behalf of the team. Chuck Buhs continues the speech |
Fini and FarewellAfter returning to the Yangji Pine Resort from Kyongju late in the afternoon, we took time to unwind from our hectic travel schedule in different ways. Some of us started preparing for our departure the following day by packing, others took a long shower, and still others decided to go running up the ski slope(!?!) before attempting any of the above. Later that evening, we attended the Farewell Party. The Workshop organizing committee arranged quite a festival of dancers, singers, and a large bonfire. We danced a little and played games, and then proceeded to leap over the remains of the bonfire. Actually, this last activity was left for a few individuals who recognized this supreme challenge. By doing so, they garnered the appreciation of the Masters in attendance. The next morning, we were up early for the six a.m. workout, some of us shedding our fatigue from the revelry of the night before better than others. Following breakfast, the last workout consisted of practicing for a brief demonstration by each of the five groups. As Mark Abbott explained, "Team E has a bit of an identity crisis" and proceeded to give a combined Hapkido and Taekwondo demonstration. Following our demonstration, the Closing Ceremony commenced in which a few speeches and comments were made and the Workshop for World Taekwondo Families was officially closed. Our trip was not ended yet, however. After packing and eating lunch, we headed for the Demilitarized Zone and then to the airport for the return home thus ending a very rewarding and fulfilling training session and comprehensive learning experience.
