Seoul and its UniversitiesFollowing our stay at Kyung Hee, we spent a great deal of time on the bus traveling to SunKyunKwon University that afternoon and then Seoul National and Yonsei Universities the following day for visits and workouts at SunKyunKwon and Yonsei. It was on the long busride visiting Seoul National and Yonsei Universities that singing was finally required by Dr. Min. Sitting in traffic on a congested Seoul freeway with petrol fumes inundating the muggy interior of the bus, Kwame began the performances by unanimous request. Roused from his sleep, he performed a rendition of "Ave Something-or-other" that set the precedent. Mrs. Browne followed with a lullaby she often sings to her children and yours truly captivated the audience with that old favorite, 100 Bottles of Kimchee on the Wall. The point of all this was to prepare us for Dr. Min's lesson in a popular Korean song which we practiced many times over the next two days. On our last two days in Seoul, we visited both the Kukkiwon and the National Assembly Building. At the Kukkiwon, Dr. Min provided us with both a tour of the facility and an introduction to Dr. Un Yong Kim who graciously posed with us for many group photos. At the National Assembly Building, we had breakfast with the Leader of the Opposition Party and were led on an extensive tour where we viewed several meeting chambers and the museum. |
