Tuttle Company, Inc., 483 pages (1987) Highly Recommended A comprehensive work that covers the development of Japanese martial arts and philosophy from Feudal Japan through modern incarnations. Sections include chapters on outer factors of bujutsu (weaponry, armor, unarmed fighting systems) and inner factors of bujutsu (concept of centre, modern martial arts, strategic principles, and the value of Zen in bujutsu). The narrative is very well-written and easy to follow. This book is also illustrated throughout with very neat and elegant drawings that complement the text quite well.
