About the Bibliography

Introduction

The purpose of the Annotated Martial Arts Bibliography is to provide a resource for anyone seeking information in the available martial arts literature. Entries in the bibliography offer a brief overview, reference information, and subjective rating of a growing list of books and articles.

Currently, most annotations are submitted by students in the George Washington University taekwondo classes and Asian Martial Arts lecture course, and members of the taekwondo club. However, unsolicited annotations are encouraged provided they include all required bibliographic information in addition to the annotation itself. Brian Wright is the editor of the bibliography.

Submission Guidelines

Annotations of books and articles on any facet of the martial arts may be annotated. However, articles should be presentations of documentable research. Annotations of works with unspecified sources that amount to editorials will not be accepted. Please note that brief articles in monthly periodicals rarely meet this requirement.

The annotation itself need not be lengthy, but should include two elements: a summary of content and organization, and an evaluation of quality. Where applicable, please include a description of photographs or drawings included in the piece.
